We have had a fun time introducing Ian and Brendan to winter activities. When we were in Maine we found a pair of tiny snowshoes for Ian. He was very excited to try them out but I'm afraid Stephen and I forgot Rule #1 of introducing children to new sports... don't have lofty goals and be prepared to turn back in just 3-5 minutes. We did get the snowshoes on and made it down the trail a hundred yards or so when Ian and Miles became engrossed in trying to pull a 12 foot fallen tree out of the snow. We didn't make it far but I will always remember Ian and Miles trying to drag that tree down the trail.
When Stephen and I purchased our stroller three years ago we opted to pay more for a Burley with hopes of only ever having to purchase one stroller. It's a double stroller (we knew Brendan was going to be coming along soon enough) that converts from a jogger to a bike trailer. But what was most compelling was that it had a ski attachment and could be turned into a sled! Well, within a week of moving to New England we had ordered the skis. We took the stroller/sled out with both boys tucked inside and were pleasantly surprised with how easily it pulled. Now, what else could we possibly need? A harness for Miles so he can pull the sled!
