So, on January 5th we made our decision to take the jobs at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. 4 days later we drove out to Mt. Desert Island (MDI) to find a rental house. We had 48 hours to see if we could find a house and were very pleased to have 4 possibilities and three very good options. The fourth house we saw however easily trumped all the others and, even though we could only see through the windows we knew it would be a wonderful place to stay while we learned the lay of the land. We think we want to live on MDI but given that there are a million and a half visitors every summer we felt it was responsible to first experience the island in the various seasons before purchasing a home.
We spent three wonderful nights in a little bed and breakfast in Bar Harbor and had a wonderful time together. Ian, Brendan and Miles stayed with my parents and sister - they had a blast and so did we! Here are a few pictures from our visit to Bar Harbor....
