On the evening before we left Gilford to head to our new home in Bar Harbor we celebrated Ian's birthday with Grammy, Papa, Mimi, Uncle David and Aunt Paula. Ian had requested chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing, strawberries, whipped cream and colored sprinkles and guess what he got?!? Exactly that! He helped Grammy make the cupcakes and was rather excited about all of the balloons and decorations. All day he was super excited about his "big birthday party." I have to admit that his birthday far outshines any adult parties simply because of the amount of enthusiasm that a three year old has. He received his first set of Lincoln Logs and also a cool excavator which will be lots of fun out in a sand box this summer. Mimi thought it would be good practice to dump a whole box of styrofoam peanuts in the house and play with them as though they were dirt and sand. It was a good idea until the peanuts started to migrate all over the house and soon were EVERYWHERE! It was quite a cleanup process but fortunately Mimi got the majority done before Grammy got home from work otherwise Grammy may have fallen over when she came home and saw her house covered with peanuts!
