Moving to Maine!

Unfortunately I don't have a single picture to document our move to Maine although I'm not surprised that in the midst of it all that I didn't find a time to pull out my camera.  But it is a rather big life event so here are the details...
We planned the move so that we would be totally free of any moving obligations on Ian's actual birthday.  So we packed up the moving van in Gilford on January 31st (we had a storage unit with some beautiful pieces of furniture that my Grammy and Grammy had given us) and headed to Maine.  Stephen and Miles drove the moving van and Tammy, the boys and I were about 30 minutes behind him in my car.  We had air mattresses and bedding with us and planned to camp out until the moving truck arrived on February 3rd.  Everything went as planned except when Stephen arrived at 10pm he couldn't get the heat in the house to turn on.  Oops!  So, we made a quick trip to Walmart for some space heaters and camped out in two bedrooms overnight.  I can't say I was toasty warm but we didn't freeze either!  We went for breakfast the next morning and were pleased to find the heat had been fixed by the next afternoon.  Yeah!
We were very grateful to have Tammy come along with us because she and Stephen were able to unload the moving van while I watched the boys.  Initially Stephen and I thought we would just do it ourselves but that was absolutely crazy and were so appreciative that Tammy came to help.  The following day was Ian's birthday which will be described in detail in my next post.  The day after his birthday the moving truck arrived with all of our belongings from Crescent City.
I can't tell you how good it felt to have all of our things back in one place together.  I often said that I felt like our move was like taking a puzzle from one end of the country and slowly, piece by piece, moving it across the country and reassembling it.  Although all the pieces were not in the right places when the moving truck pulled away at least all the pieces were in one place again!
