We continue to try new foods. So far he has tried banana, butternut squash, mashed potatoes, beets, carrots and peaches. He seems to like the mashed potatoes the best but usually the majority of it ends up on his face, hands, highchair and in Miles' tummy. Miles is quickly realizing that it's worthwhile to hang around during Ian's mealtimes. Initially he would steal kisses from Ian's messy face when I wasn't looking and I would scold him. But then I realized that he did a better job cleaning up Ian than I did and that everyone was happier with this arrangement so I gave up scolding him (please don't report me to child protective services for such an unhygienic practice!) Here's a shot of the two of them after dinner...
I have realized that being a Mom brings many new chores such as diaper changing and feeding. The one that I wasn't prepared for was doing mountains of laundry on a daily basis. I felt the need the other morning as I attacked yet another mountain of unfolded laundry to document the task for posterity sake so here's a shot of my mountain...
And, to finish out the last of what we have been up to lately, last weekend I competed in the Crescent City Triathlon. I signed up for it thinking that it would help me motivate to exercise on a more regular basis but I can't say that it worked. I managed to make it to the pool twice, I rode my bike twice and ran a handful of times - not exactly what one would call true training. I decided to do it anyway and just hoped that I would embarrass myself by drowning, crashing my bike or crumbling on the run. But I guess all of that walking with an extra 19 pounds strapped to my body has been doing something because I managed to get 6th place overall in the Women's division (does it sound as impressive if I divulge that there were only 24 female participants?). Regardless of how I finished, it was a fun race and a beautiful day. Ian, Stephen and Miles came out to cheer me on.

Wow! So much going on! I am so happy that you two were able to find work without the hassle of moving! I hope it all works out as planned! And awesome job on the whole exercising thing! Tim is doing a half marathon tomorrow. I just hope he can drive home afterwards. And I'm getting a bit more intimate with my treadmill. It's actually kinda nice!
Hip Hip Hooray to supermomma Christy! ;) I LOVE catching up with you on this site and can't believe that Ian has grown so much since I last saw you! Congrats on the tri - you are such an animal (and look absolutely fabulous, btw... ;). I'll call you this weekend so we can catch up. I miss you guys! xoxox
Awesome Christy! A Triathalon? Are you out of your tree! I'm so sore from the half-marathon yesterday. I don't think I'll be able to run ever again. And, does this chaffing thing ever go away?
Tim
