Three Weeks Already!

Brendan turned three weeks old today!  It seems like he has been a part of our family for much longer - in fact, it's hard to believe that a month ago he was still nestled in my belly.  Stephen went back to work this week and I have been learning how to manage two children on my own.  It's been going quite well as long as I follow RULE #1...
KEEP IAN BUSY AND AVOID LONG STRETCHES OF UNDIRECTED TIME AT HOME!

Each day this week has been progressively better.  Tuesday was filled with lots of time outs (for both Ian and Mommy!).  Wednesday was much better... Ian spent the morning with Kate at Tiffany's house and we met up with friends at the playroom after nap time and returned home at the same time as Stephen returned home.  Yesterday we took a trip up to Brookings to see Juliane and her boys - Brendan now has two states under his belt... only 48 to go!

Fortunately the weather has been fabulous almost every day this week which has helped tremendously.  We were finally able to mow the lawn and Ian has been enjoying playing in the yard.  It works out well because I am able to watch him from the window and feed Brendan at the same time.

Brendan is changing by the day.  He is more and more interactive, taking in everything around him.  He makes lots of squeaks and chirps letting us know when he's needing something or not happy.  He doesn't cry much at all, usually only if he is hungry or uncomfortable.  And he's a champion nurser.  He weight 9# 10 ounces when he was 15 days old so I imagine he has passed the 10# mark already.  Fortunately he has started to stretch out the time between feeds - initially he was wanting to feed every 30-90 minutes but now we usually are stretching to every 2 hours during the day and most of the night he is going 3 hours between feeds.  Needless to say this is making my life much, much easier!  He's still doing an incredible job sleeping.  He goes to bed around 9-10pm and sleeps until 6 or 7 in the morning waking only to feed.  He also seems to understand how important Mommy's nap time is because he lies down with me after lunch and falls quickly to sleep and doesn't usually awaken me for at least an hour or two!

I haven't taken many photos this past week (Bad Mommy!) but am excited about the professional photos we had taken last weekend and will post them once I have the edited files.
