Last week we took Brendan on his first airplane ride and he did great! He slept peacefully or nursed throughout the trip. We flew from Crescent City to San Francisco and then on to Orlando to see Grandma and Grandpa Ruda. Ian also did well. He loves flying and gets quite excited when I tell him that we are going on a trip. Perhaps it is because he gets such special treatment on the plane... movies, yummy snacks and of course - PRESENTS! Now, whenever I tell him that we are going on an airplane he informs me that he gets presents when he flies. Smart kid! He has now logged around 90,000 air miles and had the pleasure of having his own seat for the first time. I'll admit that it was wonderful not to have my nearly 30 pound child on my lap. We brought Ian's car seat on board which meant that he was buckled in tightly and couldn't get out. This was fabulous because Ian finds great pleasure in unbuckling the airplane seat belts as soon as he can. The downside of him having his own seat is the price tag that it comes with. I think we spent around $700 for his tickets from Crescent City to Orlando and then to NH and back home again - OUCH! Suddenly we are finding that vacations that are within driving distance of home are much more appealing!
These are a few random photos from our visit.
Ian was having fun playing fireman... the bucket is his fireman's hat, the rope his hose and the stuffed dog is "Hooper" his fire dog. He's starting to enjoy imaginative play which is really fun to see!
We took another trip to the Brevard Zoo where we saw giraffe, a rhino, turtles, monkeys, alligators and a whole bunch of other animals.
I love this last photo because of the story that goes with it. Ian was playing outside and started to rub dirt on his face stating that his head hurt. I'm thinking that he was using an unknown alternative cure for headaches.... mud masks?!?
