Poipu!

This morning we all awoke at 7am.  A huge improvement over the past two mornings when Ian woke up at 5am but clearly needed a few more hours of sleep.  We had blueberry pancakes on our patio and then headed to the southern part of the island to check out Poipu beach.  This beach is also known to be toddler friendly because of how protected it is.  It also is known for having some snorkeling.
Ian had a blast playing in the waves and sand and even enjoyed being buried up to his neck!
We came home in time for naps and I awoke to find him standing in his crib, diaper off, playing with my i-phone... I'm still not quite sure how he got a hold of it, but he did!    Next it was off to the pool (which is perhaps 20 feet from our condo) for swimming and now he's off at the park with Daddy.  He's a happy boy (and we're happy because he will sleep soundly tonight :)
I'm amazed by how well he does in the water.  Today he was jumping into the water all by himself!  Of course, I was catching him once he jumped in but he would go completely under with each jump and then kick like a little mad man trying to get back to the steps.  He must have jumped in 50+ times!  I finally had to call it quits because I was worried about how much water he had ingested.

Tomorrow we're taking a catamaran to the Napali Coast - it's supposed to be the most gorgeous part of the island that you can only access by boat or backpacking.  Oh how are lives have changed... 10 years ago we would have done the arduous 11 mile hike in, 3 years ago we would have taken the wild Zodiac boat trip, today I had to find the biggest, most stable boat around.  No one else would consider taking both a pregnant lady and a 2 year old (and, even at that I'm having to tell a little fib about exactly how old Ian is.  Stephen was appalled but agrees that he's a "mature 22 months" and wasn't exactly going to not go because of a little rule about "infants."
