This was the best family picture I could capture on Father's Day and I love it! We had a wonderful Father's Day. We awoke at Grammy and Papa's house and were able to take Papa out for a special breakfast at Kitchen Cravings (his favorite breakfast spot back home). After hugs and kisses and yelling, "we love you papa!" out the window, we made our way back home. During the five hour car trip I was able to reminisce about all of the special and fun times I have shared with my Dad over the past 38 years. He is an incredible father and Grandfather!
When we arrived home the boys found Stephen sound asleep in bed, having just finished a week-long stretch of night shifts. They awoke him with hugs, a balloon and homemade cards. We eventually made our way down to the pond for a dip and back up the driveway for dinner and bed.
Stephen is the most amazing Daddy and Ian and Brendan adore him. When they wake up in the morning one of their first questions is, "Where's Daddy?"
Stephen is loving and fun and gentle yet they seem to most love when he roughhouses with them. "TICKLE ME DADDY!!!" They both will scream! And, even in the midst of peals of laughter they'll yell out, "MORE!!" These are the most precious sounds in the world and make my heart just melt.
I am so incredibly blessed to have such a sensitive, kind, dedicated and fun man to share this journey with.
And, although we were not able to with him, this post would not be complete without also mentioning Stephen's father and the incredible love he showers the boys with. They love their Grandpa so much and Ian frequently asks when will fly to Florida to see Grandma and Grandpa again.
I can't think of anything more special and important than two little boys having a Daddy, Papa and Grandpa who love them so incredibly much. Lucky boys!
