Forest Gnomes

Once again I have fallen behind on the blog.  Since I last posted 6 weeks ago we have undergone some wonderful changes.  On October 1st I returned to work part-time at Ellsworth Family Practice.  I'm enjoying being back in medicine and the boys seem to be doing great with three days of daycare/preschool.  I wasn't surprised to see Ian adjust easily to preschool but Brendan astounded Stephen and I with how easily he made the transition.  He happily joined the toddler classroom and continues to blossom into his own little person.

We also have made huge progress on our new home.  We (finally) closed on the construction loan and they have started building.  In fact today I went to see what they were up to and they had the concrete forms for the walls of the basement in place and ready to go!  Unless there is some huge unexpected delay we anticipate that we will be able to move in a week or two after the new year.  Yippee!!!

These pictures are from a walk we took way back in September.  As you can see, the leaves are still green and Ian is not wearing a jacket.  It was a memorable walk on the carriage roads because Ian hooked Miles leash to his shirt and Miles literally pulled Ian up and down the mountain!   We continue to love living on MDI and seeing the seasons come and go is simply fabulous.  I didn't realize how much I missed having seasons when we were out in California.  Even now, as we are entering "stick season" (when all the leaves have fallen off the trees leaving barren sticks) and the days are getting shorter and shorter, I am still loving where we live.  I guess I am comforted knowing that this will pass and soon we will be in SNOW!!!
