18 months!

Brendan turned 18 months on the 18th! How did he get to be 1.5 already? We have seen huge changes in him in the past month or so. I don't remember Ian developing in such spurts. It seemed like a much more gradual progression. But with Brendan I can almost point to the day on a calendar when he hit certain milestones. About four weeks ago he seemed to wake up with this incredible little personality. It's hard to put into words what has changed but the best way I can describe it is simply that he seems much more comfortable in being Brendan. He's happy and silly and doesn't freak out if I leave the "Mommy radius." He is exploring everything and is turing into a little dare devil. The timing has been perfect since I am scheduled to begin work in a week and he needed to start daycare (which incidentally went incredibly well - he didn't cry at all the first two days and only minimally on the third!). It's also fun because he and Ian are starting to have much more fun together. Ian loves blowing raspberries on Brendan's tummy and now Brendan squeals in delight rather than terror. As I've said before, one of my greatest hopes is that they develop a lifelong friendship.
