A few weekends ago we "played tourist" and went to down town Bar Harbor to see the sights. It was wonderfully fun. We checked out the boats in the harbor, watched the horse drawn carriages drive by, window shopped and ate ice cream on the village green while listening to a brass band playing in the gazebo. I had thought that the glut of tourists in the summer would be overwhelming but it's not crazy at all. Living on the quiet side of the island is the best of all worlds... we get to enjoy all the businesses and activities supported by 2 million tourists but we don't have the mobs to deal with.
