My posts are all out of order but I think I'm almost caught up...
When we were home with my parents last weekend I bought Ian a used pair of skis and boots and took him skiing for the first time. It was a wonderfully warm afternoon and he did AMAZING! I haven't ever seen a three year old on skis for the first time so I didn't know what to expect. I kind of thought that he would get used to wearing the skis and boots and maybe, while holding on to me, make his way slowly down the hill once or twice. Well, I was WRONG! He got used to the skis and boots in about two minutes and then was doing a snowplow and stopping on command by his second or third run! I was totally amazed and very excited to see him having so much fun.
After about an hour or so we were able to coax him into the lodge for some dinner at the pub. This brought back some wonderful memories! When I was growing up I would always meet my parents in the pub after a day of at ski school or skiing with my friends. Ian liked the tradition and enjoyed a huge plate of nachos. Brendan was pretty happy too. I love the picture of him wearing Ian's helmet!
After dinner Ian still wanted to ski so we took him back out for another five runs under the lights. I'm not sure how many three year olds go night skiing their first time out but Ian did! Seeing him on skis made me super excited for the day when we can ski together (which will probably be on day two of next season!)
