Grammy and Papa's House!

Last weekend we took our first road trip to Grammy and Papa's house.  It was awesome!  I packed the kids and all of our stuff in the car on Wednesday evening after dinner with hopes that they would fall asleep in the first hour or so after we started driving.  My plan worked!  They both were fast asleep within an hour and a half and I enjoyed listening to my audiobook and chatting on the phone for the remainder of the trip.  The trip takes 4 1/2 hours if you don't make any stops which is long but not too long.   I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to be able to drive to my parents house.   When I woke up Wednesday morning I thought to myself, "If we were still in California I would be on my way to the airport right now with at least 15 hours left of traveling."    I arrived in Gilford at 10:30pm and after transferring the boys to their beds we were able to enjoy a glass of wine before we went to sleep.

The best part of living closer is that there was no time change.  The boys woke up at their normal times in the morning (5:30 for Brendan - Argh! and 6:30ish for Ian) and Papa got up with them so I could sleep in (I'm still not able to sleep much past 6am but even that seems like a luxury these days!).  Anyway, we had an awesome time at Grammy and Papa's house.  I enjoyed getting a facial and pedicure while I was there and Ian and Brendan loved having more time with their grandparents.   These are just a few pictures from our visit...   My favorite is the one of my dad with both boys on his lap reading a copy of SportAviation - I can't think of anything making him a happier man!  The picture of drawing on the chalkboard is Ian's first drawing of a person.  I was so proud!  He drew hair and eyes, ears a nose and a mouth!  He's achieved yet another developmental milestone.... a person with at least 5 body parts!
