Santa and Lights!

Although things were so hectic before Christmas that I didn't have a chance to do much of anything in terms of decorating or celebrating, we did find time to drive up to the light festival at Azalea Park in Brookings. It was a warm, clear evening and Ian had a blast! The most fun part of the evening was that we ran into Santa Claus. It's actually a really cute story...
As we were walking down the path, checking out the lights I saw Santa walking towards us. I said to Ian, “Hey look it's Santa! When he gets here you have to say “Hi” and tell him that you have been a good little boy so he will bring you presents.” Ian said Ok but when Santa got within talking distance Ian froze and didn't say a word despite our prompting. So, after Santa had passed I said to Ian, “If you don't tell Santa that you were good he may not know to bring you presents.” Well, something clicked in little Ian's brain and he took off running after Santa. I have a really cute video of this little smudge in the night running as fast as he could to catch up with Santa! Ian finally caught up with Santa, and we caught up with him in time to hear him tell Santa that he had been good. Success! But, that's not the end of the story. At the very end of the path when we were just about to leave we ran into Santa sitting on a bench and this time Ian was courageous enough to sit beside him and tell him that he wanted a “truck toy” and a “plane toy” for Christmas. My heart was bursting with pride that my little man had enough courage to talk to Santa Claus!
