On the day before Thanksgiving Dad and I packed up the boys, 200# of luggage, two car seats and a couple of carry-on bags and headed to the airport in the next step of our move back to New England. The car was packed to the brim and our skis were tied on top. At the airport there were several other little boys just a year or two older than Ian who were playing in the waiting area. I was incredibly proud of Ian because he invited the other boys to share his toys and play with him. This is such a change over a short period of time and I attribute a large part of him being more outgoing to his attending preschool these past several months. It has definitely helped him be more comfortable and assertive around other children. I was also incredibly proud when our flight was delayed and, despite waiting for over 2 hours, Ian remained happy and cooperative. I snapped this first picture of him and one of the other little boys in the makeshift fort they had under the chairs we were sitting on.
Brendan was also a champion! He continues to be an excellent traveler but I sure was glad to have Dad along to help out on the LONG plane flight.
Mom was bathing Brendan in the sink one night and Ian decided he wanted his tubby in the sink too! I'm sure my parents never thought that they would have two naked grandbabies in those sinks when they bought them over ten years ago!
We also celebrated Mom's Birthday with "Ian-made" cupcakes...
Perhaps the most eventful part of our
trip home at Thanksgiving was that Stephen and I checked out the two
top possibilities for relocation, Farmington and Ellsworth, Maine.
Mom and Dad came along with us and the boys to Ellsworth and were
awesome about watching the boys while we participated in interviews
and checked out the area. Then they headed back to Gilford with the
munchkins and we headed up to Farmington for more interviews. When
we left Farmington we were leaning towards Ellsworth as being our
first choice but had many details to work out before the decision was
final.... more to come!
