As previously mentioned, Ian and
Brendan are starting to interact more and more with one another which
is really fun to see... well, most of the time! Brendan is now
noticing when Ian takes the toy he is playing with and lets it be
known that that is NOT OK! So, why is it that now that Brendan is
protesting when Ian takes his toys that Ian seems to want whatever
Brendan is playing with? I guess all siblings are the same?
On a more positive note, Ian truly is a
great big brother. When Brendan is upset Ian will often bring him a
toy or a binky. He also will sing Brendan's song (each boy has a
song I made up for them that is about the meaning of their names, I
haven't ever written them down before so I'm going to take the
opportunity to do so).
Brendan's song goes like this...
“King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
Glory! I love you so.
Brendan, Prince of Peace,
You are, a treasured soul
I love you with all of my heart,
You are, my precious son.
Brendan, Prince of Peace,
You are, a treasured soul.”
And Ian's is part of a longer song that
we sing at Advent, the verse for him goes like this...
Ian my son you are so precious to me,
you are a gift from God.
A bringer of light and a boy of peace,
I love you with my heart and soul.
And Brendan clearly loves his brother.
He watches his every move and often is crawling over to try to share
in whatever Ian is doing... unfortunately Ian doesn't always welcome
him so there is some confrontation at times but I think that is to be
expected too. I am so blessed to have such wonderful boys and hope
that they will develop a friendship that lasts a lifetime.
