Ian Turns Two!

It's hard for me to believe that Ian turned two today!  He has become such a big boy in these past few months.  His language continues to explode as he uses more and more words and phrases each day.  He also is developing quite the personality.  He's very independent in his nature.  Although he loves to be around us and is very comfortable with other children, he also has a definite need for some independent time each day.  He often will sit quietly for 30 minutes or more and play with his blocks or toys or read books to himself for up to an hour before going to bed.  Stephen and I also both have strong, innate needs for some solitude on a daily basis... I get mine on a morning walk.  Stephen gets his after we have all gone to bed.  It's remarkable to see this developing in Ian at such a young age.
In addition to his independence, we also feel he is determined.  He is willing to try most anything on the playground and does a remarkably good job climbing up most of the elements on the jungle gym with little assistance from us.  Perhaps it sounds like I'm bragging... and I may be.  But I'm just so proud of my little man.
He had a wonderful birthday.  We didn't deviate much from his usual routine...  a walk this morning in the stroller with Miles pulling him along followed by breakfast and a day with his best friend Kate at daycare.  Tiffany and Kate had made cupcakes which apparently Ian scarfed down in record time!  After nap time they met me at the Family Resource Center where I had a balloon and hat waiting for Ian to make sure that everyone knew he was the special birthday boy!  He had fun playing in the playroom before we headed home for a quiet family celebration.  Noodles for dinner (Ian's current favorite!) followed by another cupcake and then a few gifts, tubby time and bed!
We feel so blessed to have such a special boy in our lives.

 Sleepy boy!  What a day!

Oh my gosh - little Ian has changed SO much! I have to say that he doesn't even look like the same little guy who came to visit months ago! So wish we could celebrate these milestones together, but also so thankful that I can see one of my favorite families onliine. ;) xoxox
