Aloha!

We are having a wonderful time in Maui. We arrived Saturday afternoon
and quickly headed for the ocean and pool. The ocean is warm and
calm, there are essentially no waves in the cove outside of our hotel
so I brought Ian in for a swim. I realized that I have a bit to learn
about taking a toddler to the beach...
#1. Be careful of the sand. Ian LOVED playing in the sand. He started
by grabbing handfuls and watching it slip out of his fists. Then
drizzeled sand on his feet and legs and belly and... Hair! Yikes!
But that wasn't enough, he proceeded to stick his head in the sand by
maneuvering himself into the downward dog yoga position! It was very
cute but I started to realize that it was going to be a chore to get
the sand out of his hair. And, just as I was thinking that he
probably had had enough sand he proceeded to try to taste the sand by
planting his entire face and open mouth into the sand! He came up
for air looking like a statue carved out of sandstone! Oh my!
#2. Go swimming AFTER you play in the sand.. Self explanatory.
#3. Try the pool instead :).

We spent Sunday checking out our hotel and the surrounding area. The
resorts are amazing! Most of them have elaborate swimming pools
complete with lazy rivers that meander around the property as well as
slides and waterfalls and hottubs! Yesterday Stephen went up north
for a kiteboarding lesson so Ian and I had the day to relax together.
We took several naps and went o check out the marriott's kiddie pool
which has a shipwreck that kids can climb all over. I thought it was
cool but Ian seemed to be most impressed with the sand and a shovel
and bucket he found... I'm glad he's low maintenance! Despite all if
the memorable times I've been horrible about taking pictures. Just
too busy having filun I suppose! Here are just a few...
