Finally, a moment to update everyone on a most incredible week. Let's start with a week ago... February 1st. I woke up and was incredibly disappointed that the contractions I had felt the day before were completely gone. Argh! Frustrated and disappointed I decided that it was time to mow the lawn... perhaps that would induce labor. Nope. Then I had a wonderful time when six friends came over and held a baby blessing for little Ian and wrote welcoming words and pictures all over my belly while giving me a foot massage. It was heavenly but still no contractions. A friend watching the superbowl with us offered to work on my accupressure points that can induce contractions... it hurt a ton but, atlast! still no contractions. So, desperate to have this child I went and joined my friends' 3 year old on their trampoline!
I came home tired and happy but definitely not in labor. But something must have worked because the next morning, as I was getting out of bed, my water broke! YIPPEE! Stephen followed me around the house with a mop while we got everything in order to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital around 9am and waited for the contractions to start... but by 3pm, when I still wasn't having any contractions to speak of we started pitocin to get the show on the road. 6 hours later Ian was born. It was a beautiful labor and delivery and such a joyful moment to finally meet our son.
Here are a few pictures of Ian but I've uploaded many more to the Picassa web album that you can access by clicking on the slide show on the right.
