Four & a Half!

On August 2nd, Ian turned four and a half which is a great time to pause and share what this remarkable little man is like these days.  The change in Ian over the past six months has been remarkable. He has become an incredibly sensitive and caring little boy.  He is very aware of others emotions and will often pick me a flower or give m a hugs if he knows I'm sad or frustrated.  Or, just because, he knows how much I love them.  I also have a huge collection of stones and pebbles he has found for me.   He watches out for his little brother like a hawk and sometimes needs to be reminded that I'm the Mommy and he is not responsible for his little brother.  It's special for me to see the boys developing a friendship and enjoy each others company more and more.
Ian is also goofy and full of fun!   We spend hours and hours at home dancing to "crazy" music (the louder the better!) and Ian is forever making me smile with his creative costumes, body paint and impromptu tricks.
He continues to be incredibly gifted with design and building things.  Several months ago I bought 14 pounds of Legos from Goodwill, Ian was ecstatic!  He has made some incredibly jets, robots, vehicles and castles - all very symmetrical in their design.  His imagination also continues to soar.  He loves coming up with "plans" in his mind of things he is going to build, such as his recent plan to build a diving board at camp.  He told me in exquisite detail about the different size boards he would need and the metal "attachers."   He continued by explaining that we would also need to build a raft to put the diving board on and wondered if we would swim the raft out or bring it out by boat.  Ultimately he decided that we would boat it out because then we wouldn't have to get wet.  What a plan!
