Ian started preschool last month. It was a very exciting day for all of us. Ian was most excited about his Spiderman backpack and the lunch we packed him inside. He had two great days and then decided that he didn't want to go to school any more... Uh Oh!
And what did I do? My first real challenge as a mother? I'll admit that I panicked! I was overwhelmed by his pleading and crying in the backseat and ended up spinning the car around and heading to Tiffany's house, which is where he spent the day. I proceeded to call anyone and everyone I knew who might have some wisdom on the situation and developed a plan to have Ian go back the next day and for me to accompany him.
Well, it worked like a charm. He did great and was super cute showing me exactly where to line up to go outside and how to sit with my hands in my lap during circle time. I left after an hour and a half and he has been enjoying school ever since.
And now it's my chance to brag a little bit... The teachers think he's a fabulous kid. He has already impressed them with how good he is with puzzles and they repeatedly tell me that he is doing great. I wasn't sure if he was going to be ready since he's the youngest one in the class but they keep telling me that he is definitely ready and that they have been impressed with his attention span.
His going to school has added a new dimension to our lives. He comes home and tells me about his day... what books they read, what songs they sang and what crafts they made. Last week he came home with big stories of meeting Smokey the Bear and shooting the fire hose from his fire truck! I can't wait to see the pictures they took! It's fun to hear his stories. It makes him seem like such a big kid!
