Two Months!

Brendan turned two months this past Wednesday.  I'm having a hard time believing how quickly time is passing and how quickly he is growing.  He had his two month well child visit and immunizations and weighed in at 14 pounds 8 ounces!  That means that he's at the 99th percentile on his growth curve - he's huge!  When I'm out in public, people have a hard time believing that he's only two months - not only because of his size but also because his gross motor development is quite advanced (I know, I know this is bragging about my own child but I figure why have a blog if I can't brag on it?!).  He has excellent head control and often doesn't even have any head lag when pulled from a lying to sitting position (usually infants don't achieve this until 4 months of age).  He also is smiling, laughing and cooing lots and lots.  He is anything but a quiet baby...  I actually have to wear earplugs at night because he makes so many sounds that I can't sleep.  He's a grunter and a sigher too.  And, when he nurses he makes such a racket that it's almost embarrassing in public if people aren't aware that I have a baby hidden under the hooter hider nursing.  I love all of his sounds and enjoy our little "conversations" as well.
As far as sleep... he's making steady improvements.  Most nights he goes to sleep between 9-10pm and awakens 3-4 hours later for his first feed.  Then I get another 2-3hours at a time until he wakes up around 6-7am.  Although, these past two nights he's gone for 5 hours before his first feed and 3 hours after that which is wonderful!  I actually don't find the night time feedings nearly as stressful or tiring as with Ian - probably simply because I have perspective and know that he WILL sleep through the night someday.  I do hope that he continues to stretch out his feeds because I won't be able to nap every afternoon when I go back to work :(   Speaking of naps... I am so blessed!  Brendan takes a 30 minute nap in the morning and then goes down for several hours every afternoon between 12:30-1pm... the same time that Ian takes his nap (which is usually several hours long as well).  I can't really take credit for coordinating this incredible nap schedule... it just sort of happened but boy am I happy that it did!
What else?  He has started to bat at the toys hanging on his buzz chair and arch and even grabs on to some of them at times.  He has found his hands with his mouth but hasn't really started to focus on them with his eyes yet.  I'm waiting for that day when he realizes they are there.  I have such a vivid picture of Ian discovering his hands when he was sitting in his car seat at this age.
