Camping Fun!

Over July 4th weekend we decided to take a camping trip and headed up to a remote campsite on the North fork of the Smith River. It was a gorgeous spot and was far enough away that we were the only ones there. Ian had a blast checking out the campground and dipping in the river. He quickly adapted to his new surroundings and loved playing in the tent. He even slept soundly through the night... I actually got up on several occasions to check on him and make sure that he wasn't suffering from hypothermia because he was so quiet (it actually wasn't all that cold but a mommy's brain does weird stuff at 2am! I was all freaked out that he must be freezing to death even though he was nestled in a 30 degree rated sleeping bag, full fleece PJ's and another fleece blanket) Anyway, we had a fabulous time and are thoroughly enjoying our new approach to camping... gone are the minimalist, ultra-light days of backpacking. Now we enjoy a full queen size inflatable aerobed topped with a memory foam pad, a 10x16' tent that we have nick-named "Taj" (short for Taj Mahal), and gourmet meals such as greek omelets with grilled raisin bagels! I can't say I miss the old days too much, just when it comes to loading/unloading the car!
