I haven't been very good about taking photos these past two weeks.
But we have been having a lot of fun! Ian loves to go to the Family
Resource Center... It's a center for families that has a huge
playroom, an activity/meeting room where they hold different programs,
a kitchen and a library with all sorts of books and videos on
parenting, etc. It's only about a 1/2 mile from our house and it's
all FREE! Tiffany has been taking Ian and her daughter Kate to
"Music and Movement" since before Ian could crawl. They play music
and the kids can play with drums and tambourines and other
instruments, or dance to the music. Now that Ian is a little older he
LOVES it! He runs all over and is all smiles which makes me
smile :). And, now that I have adjusted my schedule at work I am able
to go to the program each week... I truly don't know who is having
more fun, Ian or Me!?!
They also have this fun computer that Ian and Kate love to play with.
I am amazed at how quickly Ian figures out what to do... In fact he
turned his daddy's laptop on and off several times last week all by
himself. I'm just waiting for the day when he can help me figure out
my own computer when it's misbehaving... I know it's not all that
long until he'll be saying, "ah Mom, that's so easy to fix... You
just do this..." *click, click, click* and it's done!
Anyway, we spend a couple if hours a week playing at the FRC and soon
it will be a bit more because I'm starting a newborn parenting program
of my own. Las Friday Ian and I walked to the FRC which we have done
before but usually he is in the backpack. But this time he wore his
own backpack and walked on his own! It was a slow trip, Ian found
many treasures along the way (leaves, sticks, stones, flower petals
etc), but what fun to walk alongside my little man. He made it about
2 1/2 blocks and then gladly accepted a ride on my shoulders (have I
mentioned how strong I am getting carrying this little guy around!?).
The second to last picture is from my trip to Medford with Juliane.
Ian was having a ball sitting next to his friend Devon. I was touched
when I saw Ian reach out andoffer Devon one of his toys... I was a
bit shocked to then see him pull it away just as Devon reached for
it! Ian thought this game of keep-away was terrific! I was amused,
realizing that Ian had learned this from playing with his Daddy. I
was also relieved and proud of my little guy because after several
swipes and giggles, he would then offer up whatever he had been
taunting Devon with in earnest. He even gave up his Binky!!!!
The last photo is from my birthday. I had a very busy day at the
clinic but everyone spoiled me rotten! I was given a chocolate
birthday cake, a vanilla birthday cake, a cheese cake and a tower of
cream puffs called croqueembouche. Yummmy! Stephen made me a
delicious dinner when I got home and TWO MORE CHEESECAKES!!!!!!!!!
Oh my goodness! It was devine!
