Two weeks ago, in the early hours of March 13th, Grammy quietly slipped away to be with Grandy and Uncle Jack. She she was 91 years old and the most incredible Grammy ever! She was a huge presence in my life since the day I was born. I have so many wonderful memories of her... playing cards together for hours on end, riding on amusement park rides together (she was still doing the upside-down ones when she was in her 70's!), wonderfully silly Easter vacations to Kitty Hawk where we hosted an annual "talent" show (she took belly dancing lessons for weeks before one year's show!), amazing thanksgiving dinners and the best stuffing ever made!, a cruise to the carribean together when I graduated from college, weekly notes and cartoons sent to my post office box in Africa, and more recently, the smile on her face and light in her eyes whenever she saw Ian. I am so glad he was able to meet her. As he grows older I will show him these photos and tell him about what an incredible person she was and how she loved us so much. I miss her but know that she is still here in my heart.
Thank you Grammy for being such a presence in my life and for loving me so incredibly much. I miss you.
