Mom and Dad and Miles and I went camping up at Crater Lake last week. It was a blast! Crater lake is really gorgeous - we drove around the entire lake and stopped at many different points to peer over the edge of the crater and take pictures.

We had a campfire every night and they ate these strange white things that they first heated over the fire... Mom and Dad had very different techniques for heating their white things... Mom would patiently let hers warm up and turn golden brown. Dad liked to catch his on fire and then swing it around trying to put the fire out. Dad was much more fun to watch!

My favorite part of camping was the tent... it was like a huge playhouse they brought along just for me! It was so big it fit my portable crib, Mom and Dad's queen size mattress and Miles' bed. I was pretty brave and slept in my crib for most of the night but around 4am or so I let them know that I preferred to snuggle with them on their big bed :).

I have heard that people say that camping is "roughing it." I'm not sure why... it seemed a lot like home to me. I even got a bath (although the bathtub was a little different, the water was still warm and sudsy)...

We went on a long hike one day along the shore of Diamond Lake and then up a mountain - it was really pretty.

But, as I said, it was a rather LONG hike and I got tired from all of that walking...

Mom and Dad kept talking about how wonderful it was to be out camping again but they also kept saying how much the experience had changed now that I was along. They used to be able to carry everything they needed on their backs - now they were challenged to fit everything into the car...

Fortunately it did fit and we all made it home safely.

Ah, the good ole days of camping for two and the ease of it all... Gone. Gone forever. How brave of you to tempt this new adventure. Just wait until he's running around trying to help with the fire....
Awesome tent. You'll be able to use it even when you have 10 children. Looks like such a fun trip!
